AUDIOSLAVE's New Album Touches On Hurricane Katrina Disaster
September 1, 2006Launch Radio Networks reports: With the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina having just arrived, AUDIOSLAVE addresses the disaster in a song called "Wide Awake" off the band's new album, "Revelations". While AUDIOSLAVE has stayed away from politics in the past, guitarist Tom Morello told Launch that the gloves are off this time. "'Wide Awake' is definitely the most explicitly political song that AUDIOSLAVE has done to date, regarding the Bush administration's failure in the wake of Hurricane Katrina to serve our citizens down there," he said. "And it seems that had the residents of New Orleans not been poor, not been black, that the administration would have paid a much, much greater deal of attention to them, and the song touches on that."
AUDIOSLAVE will release "Revelations" on September 5. The band isn't expected to tour until 2007.
Singer Chris Cornell plans to record his second solo album at the end of this summer, with a release scheduled for next year. In addition, Cornell has also recorded "You Know My Name" for the upcoming James Bond movie "Casino Royale", as well as a song for the independent film "Bug".
Tom Morello, a diehard Chicago Cubs fan, will throw out the first pitch before the Cubs take on the San Francisco Giants this Sunday (September 3) at Wrigley Field in the Windy City.
